All teachers must demonstrate:

·        Ability to develop lesson plans and successfully instruct students in theories, methods, and tasks.

·        Ability to effectively communicate with others and express complex ideas.

·        Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to students’ various learning needs.

·        Knowledge of appropriate learning psychology, styles, and strategies.

·        Superior content knowledge in subject area.

·        Excellent organizational and time management skills.

·        Advanced technology skills to track student attendance and grades and present creative lessons.

·        Leadership skills and patience for working with high school students.

 

Teacher Responsibilities:

·        Establish and enforce rules of conduct for students in the classroom.

·        Create hands-on projects and activities to enhance and deepen learning objectives.

·        Create unique and inspiring laboratory experiments to help students see the applications of science (for STEM disciplines only).

·        Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students.

·        Encourage students to explore learning opportunities and career paths within STEM disciplines.

·        Create, assign, and grade various assessments for students, including but not limited to tests, quizzes, essays, projects, activities and homework.

·        Work with students one-on-one when extra help or attention is needed.

 

Teacher Expectations:

It is expected that all TSA teachers shall:

·        Create and manage a minimum of one year-long extra-curricular activity.

·        Attend teacher-parent conferences, once per semester, to counsel, advise, and discuss student progress with families.

·        Hold a daily 30-minute office hour, either before or after school hours, to provide support and extra help for students.

·        Attend all teacher workshop and orientation days.

·        Attend all school meetings with fellow teachers and administration.

·        Monitor and supervise lunch/study halls when possible.

·        Attend, monitor and supervise field trips when possible.

FACULTY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree in subject area.

Preferred Requirements:

·        High school or post-secondary teaching experience.

·    Minnesota state teaching license.
